In this paper, a study was conducted to enhance AEB system performance on inclines reflecting an external environment. The conventional AEB system has been researched on various road forms; however, because this research used ideal external environment conditions and values, results differ greatly from actual real-life AEB system performance. In order to solve such a limitation, an AEB system performance enhancement method on inclines that considers the external environment was suggested. A Kalman filter was used to remove the influence of the GPS sensor noise from the external environment. Further, a TTC (time to collision) concept was applied to analyze the braking and collision performances of the AEB system. Various incline scenarios were simulated to verify the AEB system performance. Moreover, the proposed AEB system considering external environment conditions was compared to the conventional AEB system to verify the availability of AEB system performance, and the availability and enhancement of the proposed AEB system on inclines were confirmed.
